Here’s a little blog post on this little website about big talent. Den Lim’s Kitchen, a place perfect for large groups and appetites. Also, the most ideal place to take balikbayans or relatives from abroad.

Chef Den Lim has got raw talent and sticks to what he knows, where he’s most comfortable at. Simple, nostalgic, straightforward kapampangan food. That’s why it works and why I believe he’s got staying power. Food was good and comforting, but rich. That’s why it’s ideal for big groups. Pacing must be relaxed too. You can even bring your own wine, free of corkage!

You must be a group of at least twelve. Make reservations way in advance because he’s always booked and can only take in one group at a time. There is no air-conditioning but it is always somewhat cool especially in the “ber” months.

My favorites were the appetizers with crusty bread. The beef shank. And the pork. Read on as I describe them in the photos.

Pasta Perlita (sisig pasta)
Caveman’s Shank. A rich stew of tender beef shank in gravy, garlic and roasted corn.
Here’s how to have the famous pork wrap!
