This article is the result of a chic collab between two beautiful souls whose main objective is always to help out those who need it the most. Marga Nograles (@marganograles) is the founder and brains behind Kaayo Modern Mindanao, @kaayo.ph. Alex M. Eduque (@alexmeduque) is the founder of @moved_orgph. I am honored to be called muse and to wear my culture for these two friends of mine. Alex says that this collaboration started out “because that was the time the Marawi siege happened, and in my own way, I wanted to be able to help out”. Here are some of the days photos, my fellow muses and the beautiful designs meticulously sewn by the tribes of Mindanao.
“Knowing my capacity and limitations, I wanted to be able to somehow shed a positive light on Mindanao which oftentimes is downtrodden by negative and violent news, making us neglect the richness of our culture in the south, as well as their talent and heritage. I know Marga works actively with the tribes in Mindanao, so I tapped her to explore opportunities to be able to help out”.
“After some brainstorming, the collaboration was born out of our desire to jointly showcase the beauty of Mindanao, and to remind ourselves that even in the smallest way, by carrying our culture in our hearts and wearing our heritage on our sleeves, we are able to shine a positive light on those who need it the most”. –Alex
